1998 p38, having a problem which came on all of a sudden, this morning key simply won't turn in the ignition, finally got it after 5 mins, been the same all day taken me ages of pulling it in and out and jiggling it before it would turn. turns fine in the door lock so im guessing the barrel and not the key, will i need a replacement? and can i order just the barrel from landrover to suit my car?
thanks;)

Make sure the key blade hasn't got lots of dirt and stuff stuck in it, this can cause the problem you are having. People have had varying success with graphite lubricant sprayed down the barrel but I don't know any more about that :(

i tried wd40 and cleaned the key up with a tissue to remove any dirt. would have thought if it was the key at fault it wouldn't work in the door lock.
