How to use Gearbox Knob LT95

Hi,

I need some help to use this Gearbox Knob LT95, should the knob like Pix B or Pix C under normal road condition, there is letter L-N-H on the knob. Lastly I am still trying to figure out what is the knob on Pix D? 1983 Land Rover 109 V8. Thank you in advance.

pic d is diff lock its works using engine vacuum , pic abc is high or low box ,pushing lever rearwards should engage high (normal road driving)forwards low

IIRC, the diff lock knob should be pushed in for normal road driving, and pulled out to activate the lock. There should be a warning light on the additional dash unit to show that it's locked. Can you confirm James?

Didn't some lt95s have a limited slip centre diff or did I dream that?

Early LT95's had a limited slip diff.

I have seen them with the vac unit removed and converted to a lever opperated diff lock.

very early,they did but still had diff lock

Thank you everyone for your help and solve the mystery, I have and bought all the manual in desperation, Military land rover series lll (LWB & lightweight), repair operation, petrol & Diesel models and they cannot help me identify the parts or function, you guys are great!!! I have been driving the wrong gear all the time

not very fast then

50km OK but struggle to reach 80Km, hope I don't damage or worn out the engine
