Hello, I want to change my clutch kit.

My truck is a Land Rover Defender 110 HARD TOP 300TDI, CHASSIS VIN ***. It was produced on 1997. The engine is 300tdi with ***. The gearbox is R 380 with ***.



Please answer the following questions:



A) Which clutch is preferable / you would use /, for what reasons :

Most of your technical questions can only be answered by the clutch manufacturer & I doubt even they could answer them all.

Vehicle manufacturers don't make many of the components of their vehicles. They buy them in from other specialist manufacturers.
Clutches are a good example.
You are likely to get exactly the same clutch from a franchised Land Rover dealer and a normal car parts shop. The difference will be in its packaging & price.
The LR dealer one will be in a box with Land Rover logos & the shop one will likely come in a box with Sachs logos.

However, sometimes it is worth buying a part from the franchised dealer as it should be the latest version of that part & there may have been design changes to address identified problems.
 
Q? why are you looking at performance clutches? The type of clutch is down to your driving need and the std units are perfectly robust :. what are you doing with the 300tdi? If using for standard use buy and fit the OEM Sachs clutch kit. More importantly when changing clutch is to install a HD thrust arm and HD metal thrust bearing - these are readily available from all good suppliers.

+ as per @doriz, suggest you remove your Defender details from post before someone clones the numbers!
