How to connect brake pipe to pipe ends

As part of my push to get my landy through it's MOT i've decided to renew the pipe work / cylinders to the rear of my SWB 1980 landy.

have got the copper pipe work and the imperial male ends to fit into the new cylinders.

my question is do I have to solder the copper pipe whilst it is inside the imp male ends in order to seal the two together?

Apologies if a straight forward question but rather make sure.

I have just done a similar job on my 110 - first time ever - took the old brake pipes to a garage and they made up new copper ones for next to nothing, I think you need a tool to flare the ends, after the connectors have been put on.
 
you must use a flaring tool. get one or get someone else to make them up.

any other method and you will kill yourself!
 
Remove and replace one pipe at a time Look closely at the ends because they can be a single or a double flare. Change the three rubber hoses at the same time, also remove and renew bleed nipples on brake cylinders, as well as rubbers and seals..Also get a recon set for the master cylinder. All are as cheap as chips, and should leave you with trouble free brakes for a couple of years.------B.B

Remember you want mushrooms and not trumpets
I suggest that when you get your new flaring kit that you spend some time practicing (Break pipe is cheep).
Also if you look at the old pipe ends you will understand my first comment.
 
in july 1980 Land Rover went metric for brake pipe threads. Do take extra care on this as the two threads are very similar and you can easily get them mixed up. I don't have to explain what might happen if a nipple pops out.
 
as for all brake work, do take extra care and get it right.
make doubley sure youve got the correct fittings etc..

this is one area on the car where you need to be very professional.
it aint rocket science, but do use a bit of finesse please.
