HGF, it finally happened

I think it is cos they are fitted from the bottom - and only glued in position .

Obviously to change a liner, the crank & piston whould have to be removed. The chances of this happening without moving any of the other liners is, in my opinion, slim.

Ok here's my plan of attack. First get the head off the injun along with the sump. Check to see if there's an uprated rail in there and whether there are plastic or metal pegs in the head. Also measure to see if liners have dropped. Then buy the bits needed, then get the bugger back on the road.

Sound sensible?

when yu check the liner heights, they changed the dim sometime. I think it is on here somewhere.

Also, as I mentioned before, when the head is off, under NO circumstances, turn the engine, coz any movement of the pistons is very likely to move the liners :(.

Yep well aware of that danger :). Luckily there shouldn't be any goop to clean up in there so interferance can be kept to a minimum.

I've seen a camshaft locking tool for the K series on ebay. Worth getting? Seems like a real arse if you mess up the timing.

drain fluids first (oil and coolant) then set your timing marks.

if liners are level or under they've dropped.

mine were about 5 thou proud, so you don't need much sticking up.

Good Luck

Have you fixed it yet:D only a ten minute job!

Hehe not quite yet. I'm going to give it a few days untill all my bills have gone out then I'll see about it. Could be a bit pricey parts wise that new rail aint cheap.

But I'll get to it. Then the VCU. Then the tyres. The the tailgate. Then the central locking.

Will.

Right, I can't wuss out of doing this any longer. I'm going to tackle it next week as best I can.

I'm also seriously considering fitting an EWP and controller, as it's the perfect opportunity and it should mean no more HGF ever. If I do I will write a guide for the how to section.

Will.

I figure if I'm going to do it once I may as well make sure it's the last damn time I have to do it. I'll probably renew most of the hose work too and get rid of all those stupid effing circlip that yer can't fecking undo without super powers.

I'm in no rush, survived for months wi'out a motor before this came along so I can take my time doing it properly.
