Hi all

took the dash out to replace the heater box put it all back together and now none of the headlights sidelights horn or hazards are working but the indicators are. cant find any disconected wiring, and have put a meter on the switchs to make sure they are working. when the dash went back in they did flicker on but went off strait away. the dash is now out again with no joy.

Please help before i get the marsh mellows out

Thanks Dan

checked all the fuses ?

made sure you didn't trap or damage any wires during the works ?

the fact that lights did come on briefly would indicate to me that there's a fuse blown somewhere - does anything else electrical work ?

i've checked every fuse in the panel with the meter, will check the relays, i forgot to say its a 200tdi dont know if that makes a differance.

the only other thing i noticed was the clock goes funny when i try to turn the lights on

Sounds like you've got a trapped wire somewhere shorting out, probably/possibly also a bad earth or even crossed wires!!

Basically you need to check and re-check all the connections you made/unmade/re-made, the wiring loom runs, relays and all fuses again .. ;)

Hi again,
I have checked all the relays, connections and all apear to be fine.
But i have no voltage in the brown wire that the haynes says is the positvie, when on continuity it does show a connection between the pos and earth, is this correct as its a lighting circuit??

Also does any one know the route that the brown wire takes from the stalk to the battery.

The haynes also say that there is a fuseable link numbered as 10, does any one know where or even if this exists.

thank again Dan

P.S I know i can't spell lol.

I belive that the fuse box is powerd from the battery and the componants attatch to the fuse box because the fuse box should be constantly live so you are prob looking from fuse box to componant but I might be wrong:)

Have you got the 200 handbook? Not haynes, the LR one.Cos it tells you what fusible links control what groups of functions,if all the functions you are missing are in one group, hooray! It will tell you what link it is and where....I cant remember where they are on a 200.on the 300 they are in a 6" x 3" black plastic box halfway along the off side inner wing in the engine compartment.Sorry cant remember and cant find 200 handbook. If the link IS gone you can bodge one up by twisting fusewire to make the relevent ampage. Some people have done away with them completely in their 200s...dont know how advisable this is....Mad Hat has a 200,he will most like know.....

did you take the indicator stalk off the steering column? as I had the problem where a wire broke on the stalk, I lost main beam but indicators were working.
