Hi Guys, need to replace screen for dreaded mot, can get heated screen for extra £15 on insurance. The wiring is in place under bonnet, can anyone tell me the position of the switch & is it just a case of connecting screen & fitting switch? 1998 D1 GS.
Thanks for any help received.

Hi Dave, I can tell you that the switch is directly above (or below) ther rear window heater switch. Can't answer the second part of your question though.

A bit of dis-information above if u don't know don't bother.:p

The heated front screen switch is below the clock alongside the front fog lamp switch if fitted.
The switch position below the hazard switch is a blank, u will reqiire a switch, two relays (behind the passenger kick panel) and a fuse somewhere in the fuse box which is not listed as a heated windscreen was an option other then the ES and electrical options don't seem to be shown sometimes on my diagrams.. not that i'm that interested :D

hi, I have fitted a heated screen to my 2.5 td5 (was a standard screen), If you have the wiring already sited below the screen(large purple & black wires on both side of the screen)you will have the wiring plugs in the facia, the blank under or above the heated rear screen needs to come out,you will find a multiplug there, just plug the screen switch in,in the fuse box (engine bay) you will need to fit a relay, the fuse box lid will show the position, then you will have to take your'e car to the dealer to have the ecu programed to accept the screen I bought the relay & switch from a breakers at a cost of £10,and the dealer charged me £20 for reprogramming the ecu, hope this helps.

Hi guys, many thanks for replies, with electrics not being my strong point, i was thinking along the lines that with the connectors for screen being under bonnet & hopefully finding a connector at switch position. Are the relays specific to the heated screen or are they a standard relay? Is position for relays likely to be marked & also position for fuse? Told you electrics was'nt my strong point!
Want to try & sort this at weekend if poss.
Any help much appreciated.

According to my books you will require switch AMR5177 and a single relay.
The relay is just the standard 3 pole one AMR3773, the position of the relay is behind the glove box so have a look at the relay bracket and if there's a vacant position at the end No.5 with a black socket the relay could already be install who knows, the 7 mins or so timing is taken care of by the multi-function unit. :)
