hi guys, had the freelander a while now but a few days ago i turned on the headlights and they do not come on. the side lights work fine as do the high beam but no dipped headlights. i have changed one of the bulbs but still the same. has anybody any ideas. thanks for reading this. geoff

Fuses F24 and F25 in the passenger side fuse box are for dipped beam (10 Amp), both would have to of blown for both lights to not work though. Nothing seems to be common to both sides apart from the light switch.

Hi Geoff, I was reading your post with interest as I have a similar issue and am looking for help.

My problems occur when it is very cold (like now). In the mornings when I turn the headlights on the stay off... After about 30 seconds to two minutes they turn on.

I have checked fuses, wiring and swapped over relays.

So not really sure if it helps you at all but there is an issue with cold for me which may be affecting you...?

Mine does that when it's cold. It seems like the relay is just taking a little bit of time to 'warm up'. Doesn't take 30 seconds though but it does seem like a long time while waiting.

My 'solution' is to turn them on straight away while the car is warming up.

This happened to me but it only affected passenger side. Turned out to be an on line connector, the clip had broken and the connection had become high resistance. It's just behind the headlight level adjuster. This could explain the delay in lighting as my connector fault was intermittent.

Rovers suffer from a similar fault which can be traced to the grease in the switch going hard so holding the contacts apart!!
