Just a quick few words of advice to anyone running their car on the drive to defrost it.
Last week unlocked the car (drivers door only) and fired her up. While clearing the side windows I heard clunk, the sound of the central locking working. Engine running, doors locked and I only had the one key!
Firstly I soaked the drivers window in de-icer to make sure it was free to move and then using numerous large screwdrivers prised the corner of the door just wide enough open to allow me to use a garden cane to operate the electric window switch.
I now fully unlock the car and not just the drivers door.
This was obviously due to moisture in the door mechanism freezing and causing havoc with the lock.
