Hei there,
I've put a 200Di into my series but it hasn't got the coupling to hand crank it. Just wondering if any of you 'modern' fellows has ever hand cranked a 200TDi ? Used to do it too my petrol series for ages but never tried a diesel, suspect the compression is to great but be good to hear any war stories..!!!

Regards

Fergus

still workin tw@t cock sucker read it before commenting.....

dick

so why do you carry the handle ?

i have an old rangie crank handle which i carry.
You need a pulley wheel that mates or weld the mount on the pulley,it will need to be perfect and ballanced.Still working on that........

you could post some pics of how far you've got with this little project, seeing as your "still working on it" you must have something to show, perhaps of how you'll be mounting this pulley wheel .....

am very interested in how you'll get getting around the fact that there's a radiator in the way, maybe you are fitting a couple of UJs ?

clearly a man of your numerous and varied abilities will have no trouble turning over such a big lump, no doubt as well as being considerably richer than us you are also considerably strong

pictures please, am interested

can i ask why you would wanna do that? starter motors have been invented and so have batteries and starter packs and even bump starting.

I had a job once as a school groundsman for a month we had a big cultivator machine with a 2 cylinder diesel that you had to hand crank. took two people and many blistered hands to get her going in the moning. after 2 days i hooked it up to my 110 and dragged it round a field till it started.

I used to help my dad hand crank his ERF lorry. It had decompressor levers on top of the rocker covers and i used to operate them and he would swing on the handle, it would start and run decompressed if needed.:)

My V8 has a dog on the pulley BTW and a hole for the handle uner the rad.

so what about the pulleys you mentioned above, getting them balanced etc ?
..like i said its a plan im workin on.it would have to be ballanced if used like that and a space made through the rad so i thought ujs then.. also wondered of starter motor type set up.This could then run on the left of the engine and space made between intercooler and rad for crank handle.......

For self-defence?

far to awkward a shape to be of any real use, plus NoB is probably a 7th Dan Ninja so why would he need it

just wondering why mention it as he's clearly not using it - or maybe it was to give the impression to the OP that hand starting a 200 is easy and he does it all the time

tis just more BS
