halfwit grease monkey!

I used a bleeding claw hammer laying underneath on a main rd me arms are still hanging off!

Im well pleased though, managed to strip it all out,two of the front flange bolts are fooked so im off to order 8 bolts + nuts an pick up some ep90.

I run out of light today,so tomorrow i'll clean it all up an start putting it all back together.

then all i gotter do is adj front brakes an get the welding sorted an back for the retest.

All i gotta do,famous last words.

the grease monkey saga continues, after cleanig the old oil from the drum and back plate i start to inspect the adjuster prior to greasing em up and find theres a piston missing.

Ok mucho searching no piston, and the adj has also had it.

On to the expander, the pistons aint pushing the shoes out!

Right im not gonna mess about i'll replace both, when i check the price from main dealer it comes to over £90  blimey thats not even genuine

And it gets worse,im laying under the landy looking at the backplate and realise the oil catcher's missing (remember the bolt we're hanging out) also the shoes had been fitted the wrong way.

The list grows

1 oil seal ,felt washer an split pin.
new shoes and springs.
new prop bolts x 8 +8 nuts.
1 adj.
1 expander.
1 oil catcher + gasket.
2 litres of ep90 gl4 spec

I replaced the seal and cleaned it all up and after trawling fleabay managed to source the expander and adjuster for just over 35 quid.

beadles wanted 35 plus vat for the adj alone!

im waiting for the parts as we speak so watch this space chaps.

Oh an after all this agg i still love my landy:)

Paddocks are about £30 the pair plus postage. You'll find them in the gearbox section!

cheers mate, been having a nose on there but could'nt find em.
im on craddocks at the mo they've got both and it works out bout
the same.

Ive got another headache now, just been reading the ****part debate,i got the shoes from main dealer who told me they we're nla.

Well the ones he got me...****parts and he charged me over 45 quid for the shoes!

what do i do now? when i asked the dealer if they was any good he replied "we aint had no complaints".

he wanted to order the exp an adj but i said i'll come back .

landy virgin fookin confused:confused:

Tell me about it mate,if the parts are genuine then fine but ****parts, its taking the ****

Just been on craddocks, they got everything i need and the prices are very nice but,are they ****parts as well cos of the cheap prices :confused::confused:

All sorted, the handbrake works! it turned out that the rod that comes from the expander was'nt screwed in far enough to activate the pistons.

I've replaced everything but did'nt need to! oh well everyday is a school day:)

The landys been standing for a few weeks without being fired up,so after all the work sorting the handbrake its time to start her up.

She wont start! ok its been damp so cover electrics in wd40 still wont have it.
check spark fine, theres petrol in it wtf?

pull pipe from carb completly dry ok must be the pump.

drop petrol down carb she fires up and then dies.

so have a nose around the pump which looks new.

start pumping by hand get covered in petrol:mad:

replace the pipe and away she goes.:)

i love her again.

After all the hard work and dirty finger nails, mucho swearing the landy has got a brand new mot! the last picture is this morning, waiting for the school run :)

Total rough cost with buying about a grand, im very happy!!!!!!!!

cheers mate, the windscreen washer stopped working before the mot and the handbrake needed adj to get it through!.

On the way to the garage it suffered a fuel starvation prob ffs! long line of traffic behind as it chugged up the hill.

I think it was because i got the landy up early for mot an it had the hump!

It needed welding,handbrake adj,and retest came to £63 .

if anyone needs work or mot check out nicholas motors of welling in kent
0208 855 7393 very honest he could'nt do enough to get the landy through an didnt charge for extra work!!!:):):)

now wheres me spanners?

Fuel starvation on hills is usually a problem with the lift pump.
Washer problems can be blocked jets (a bugger to get at, you'll probably knacker them getting them out and they never unclog properly. Replace, but flush the system thoroughly first or replace the pipework) or a failed motor. You can just bypass the motor in the bottle and splice in an external one, get them at most motor factors.

I traced the fuel prob to a kink in the line when i had it off to prime the pump.
and the washers we're working fine before i left it laid up.

Theres power geting to it,i pulled the pipe from the bottle an blew down it,hey presto water on both sides of the screen.

The mot fella looked at it an said it aint got enough ooomph an to get a better one?
an let it pass.

thanks for the advice mate the joys of a landy eh?
