Finally I have got everything electrical working on the Series 3, what a bloody nightmare, took me 2 days to get the bloody rear fog light to work and I even have an interior light that works :) mind you it needed to work otherwise it was going to get worked over with a large sledge hammer.

But lectricity's easy! how come it took so long?

1. Becasue its an utter bastard and a Landrover.

and

2. It was originally a petrol and had a diesel put into and the only thing that worked was the engine, no lights, no indicators, no stop lights absolutely bugger all and had been used off road as a shooting truck for a couple of years, so everything was caked in mud and ****, plus I had to walk away several times because it was really really really really ****ing me off!

try sorting the wiring out on a fiesta - landy's is simple!

Nah! Your alright, I'll leave that to the intellectuals, especially when you take the dash off a landy and it looks like someones thrown up coloured spaghetti behind it, hate to think how harsh it would be doing a more modern car.

There's one major problem with that, because Landy wiring is so simple, idiots mess with it and think taped joints and such like are the way forward.....usually people are too scared to mess with modern stuff so its usually in a better state in the first place!

never mind a bloody fiesta try a mk 5 escrot ghia x with all the lecci trimmings like heated windscreens seats lecci sunroof and anything else lecci ( the one i did the aftermarket modular alarm lost its code against the fob and needed stripping out and in the process i had a minor electrical fire in the fusebox transponder causeing a majour rewire )

give me a series landy with its multicoloured birds nest anytime

Tell me about it - my son built a Lotus 7 lookalike and ended up grafting the wiring loom from a mondeo onto the loom from a fiesta so muggins had to help 'cos he's not good with electrics. Firkin wiring diagrams didn't agree with reality on either loom and it took ages to sort. Told him next time it goes wrong to get some odd switches, a landy indicator stalk and a bundle of wires and I'll make him a new loom from scratch.
