Hello Just a Quick One, Im Having Problems With The Running of My Car, More Importantly The Engine Management System, i Was Wondering if One of You Lovely People Could Point Me In The Direction Of A Cheap Code Reader or Diagnostic Equipment For It

My Car is A Discovery 1 1996 3.9efi
Any help You Can Give Would Be Apprieciated

Cheers Kev:)

ok well first symptom is no "check Engine Light"
bulb checked and changed and is ok
second symptom is i can remove any sensor connection without it affecting the car at all
3rd symptom is poor performance, this is down on power, not very fast and struggles to go up hills its pretty weak really
now the engine has been reconditioned and is sweet, so im back to engine management
a friend in a local garage has tried to read the ECU and cant get comunication

i feel as though it is limp mode hence the poor performance, however i cannot find the ecu to see if its been messed with

i would llike to stress the point that the car starts perfectly everytime
it does not misfire, or have bad idle, its really good untill you put your foot down and it goes like a 1 litre fiesta lol

Help Please lol

does it have a limp mode-im suspecting not.Possibly MAF sensor? but as you can get ya mate to comunicate with the ecu why will you?

I think you will need to get the codes read by a garage with the correct LR equipment.

Most of the cheap code readers are not worth buying as they only have generic codes, not specific LR ones.

Depends what you call cheap, but you could buy a HawkEye (£250), that would read the codes.
