Remove or bend back the inner plastic panel, it's held in place by push in clips. If you need to take the pump/filter mounting Brkt off you will need to get under the car as that's where the bolts are located. I had to grind the heads off mine as they were seized solid and just rounded the heads off (replaced with new bolt in the top bolt and big self tapper in new hole in the lower one).

That always seizes in place, as has been said before, what moron would a pump and filter in such a stupid position, only Landrover:mad:

Agreed - barking mad. I have no words to describe the locating of a service item in such a place as under a wheel arch.

Those who have experienced no problem with this and changed filter / pump easily have usually access to a full hoist /hydraulic ramp.

Be sure and read up on this before you start. Have plenty rags ready to catch any spilt diesel.

Also no-one has mentioned that you need to remove the offside rear wheel to be able to bend back the inner liner a bit.

Good luck - enjoy.

Singvogel.
Also prepare for seized bolts , mud and road dirt in the compartment/on the filter and pump fuel line conections , and the earth strap breaking

Has anyone found the earth cable connected, seems like just another weak spot.
Me ! breifley though as soon as i touched it , it fell apart then i thought as you do what next , on the plus side the 2 shelf retaining bolts are still free 2 years on , amazing what a bit of grease can do !
