Replacing the 'park switch' on front wipers has been on the list for a while now but it's been demoted down as wipers have stopped completely.

Unit is removed and tin worm had reduced thickness of plate where motor fastens to that of wet tissue paper, hence motor has ripped metal and now turns in the hole rather than turn the wipers.

Question ; is the motor unit and linkage the same for disco2 and disco1, they look the same in pictures on ebay but just asking.
I'll probably go for a second hand one from online breakers.

Cheers,
N

They are the same, except for the wiring connections.

The 300Tdi/3.9 V8i Discovery-1 Wiper Motor and Linkage - AMR3869 is no longer available and has been superceded by the Discovery II Wiper Motor and Linkage - DKD100620

If used on a Discovery-1, DKD100620 needs an Adaptor Harness - YMQ104550

The Grey connector connects to the Wiper Motor connector, the White connector connects to the Discovery-1 wiring harness.

So be careful if you source a 2nd-hand Discovery-1 unit, as it could have the White connector on its motor and your Discovery II wiring harness will have the Grey connector on it.

Many thanks, have found and ordered a used td5 motor and linkage.
I'll put it on and hope it will sort the intermittent wipe problems too!

Hi help, my wipers on my discovery 2 on intermitent tend not to return to the park position, any ideas? motor relay? how to get to front wiper motor,
Thanks

This issue is more complicated that it seems...if the missbehaviour is only on intermittent setting. If it works well on low and high speed the problem might come from the BCU cos for each setting there are other systems involved , so :

1. Front intermittent = switch/variable switch > BCU > IDM > relay > motor

2. Front slow = switch > IDM > relay > motor

3. Front fast = switch > motor

as u see the only two components which are not common are the BCU and the variable switch ... so if it makes tricks only on intermittent it means the fault must be there otherwise the other settings would have missbehaved too.
