Hi, hoping someone can possibly help me with this so here goes....
The other night I had to use my Disco to tow a mates Disco to his garage, only a few miles away. Dropped his Disco off then drove home, no problems at all with mine on the way home. The next day we used mine to go get parts for his. He said he noticed a slight vibration which hadnt been there the night before. He stuck it on his ramp and said that the U/J nearest to the transfer box needed replaced. Found it a bit weird since there had been no vibration the night before but he said he would replace it anyway to be on the safe side! Drove it home (8 miles, doing no more than 50mph cos its a nasty twisting back road) no problems at all. Yesterday I went out in it, made it about 1/4 mile away from my house before I started to feel a very slight vibration, was only doing about 30mph then bang, the front prop snapped, bits and pieces went flying! My mate came out with his recovery truck and took it to his garage, he says it looks like the new U/J might have failed but as theres bits of it misisng he cant be sure. Im going to look for the missing bits in the morning as Im pretty sure I know where they will be but has anyone else ever heard of this happening before, especially with no warning at all?!

Sue them too, take em to trading standards, do anything to get rid of that company
thats going a bit far ,they are the biggest supplier and do genuine ujs as well ,was replacement the one that failed ,if it was id want to know it was fitted correctly first, very easy to fit badly

Try phoning them, & see if they will speak to you? Think not, unless you have an account with them.
thats because there a wholesaler and dont deal with the public, you take your complaint if you have one with your supplier ,there not usually difficult to send stuff back i find ,they do do genuine ujs pay the difference and get one of those ,but i would check it was fitted correctly first you can often tell

Well it was my mate who fitted it, he's been a mechanic for over 25 years, 15 of those with his own garage, mainly working on Landys! I wouldn't have thought it would have been fitted incorrectly, he's always worked on mine, my familys/friends vehicles and never had a problem before.
He got the bit from Dingbro so took the remaining bit back to them who said we would need to complete a warranty claim through Britpart cos now it wont go into difflock cos theres something wrong with the transfer box. Forgive me if Ive got that wrong, I was a wee bit confused when he was explaining it all to me
