noticed recently my exhaust tone has changed its blowing from somewhere, but when im driving for a while the car seems to cough and splutter likes its gasping for breath this has got progresively worse..ive looked at the exhaust and it seems ok the backbox is rusty at the joints and could do with being changed, would a break/hole in the exhaust system cause this problem? any help gratefully apreciated, thanks

Have you checked the air filter? If it's badly clogged then the engine might struggle for air when driving. That would be the first place to start I'd say.

Will.

it is all acording where the hole is although any hole in it is bad as it can cause the gasses not to go out properly and of course a MOT fail
