freelander not starting at random times

hi guys an girls, hope everyones good, well today was a big moment for my girl she finally got the nice extron stereo fitted an side steps an mudguards, that along with all the other bits ive done she really does look good, well now onto my new problem lol

Never had a problem starting her up an last week randomly just wouldn't start, she ticks over but just don't ignite but i thought maybe that was a one off but since then it has happened twice more today just after going for a nice drive an stopping at the petrol garage, i just turn her off give it a minute then she seems fine but i want to sort this asap.

Also which is either a funny co incident or related... Is just before these problems started i noticed when i first turn the key in i hear a hum coming from the battery or radiator area an it doesn't stop till i start her up...

gone through the search function an found a similar problem on there but no answer to it so was wondering if anyone had the answer or maybe an idea?

Crankshaft position sensor fault maybe.

The humming maybe coming from the UBP fuel pump, if she starts and drives ok but once warm or engine up to temperature you stop for any reason then she is hard to start could be cam sensor.

Best way to try and find out is take a 5 mile drive round return home turn the engine off re-start if she fails to start or as trouble starting remove the cam sensor stick it in the freezer for about 15 minutes and refit it and she if she starts if so cam is at fault.

being a 2002 is the fuel filter in the engine bay as it could also be low fuel pump take a look and report back

had the battery and alt tested? maybe the new stereo drains a touch more than the old one and it needs a bigger battery, maybe the old one was not big enough (mine wasn't when I bought my freebie)

Hi guys, did the little check you said about the sensor but she started fine, also this started before the new stereo was fitted, ohh the joys of my beauty hey lol

Any more ideas guys?
