Hi, I have a 2011 Freelander SD4 and have a problem with it cutting out. The engine simply cuts out every few weeks and I am left with no power to the brakes or steering - everything usually returns to normal when I re-start the car. Stratstone of Cardiff say they can't find anything wrong (despite Service finding a fault code but not being able to trace the cause) and just want to give me the car back as it is. I can't help thinking that it's only a matter of time before i end up in a hedge or in the back of someone.

I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar problem.

Cheers,
M

hello mate

take it back to them and tell them you were pulling out of a junction and it cut out and a car was coming the other way which caused danger to you and your family and tell them your not having the car back untill its as it shud be or your seek advise elsewhere

cheers mike

If you say there is a fault, there is a fault.

Definately tell them you dont want it back until they can prove they fixed it.

Make sure you've got a replacement car until the car is fixed.

Make sure you've rang and spoke to Land Rover Customer Services. If you make the point the car is dangerous and the dealership keeps giving it back to you, things move alot faster along.

Hi Mike and Vissie, thanks for the comments. Finally got some sense from Stratstone after speaking to the manager there (who seemed more human than the automatons I had been dealing with - all just doing their job but no help to me at all). Anyway, the car is in and they say they'll keep it until they find the fault - I have a replacement to keep me going.
All of this really is a shame because I love the car despite the fault.
Thanks again,
Matthew
