Hi all,

Does anyone out there have any fitting instructions for a Mantec tank guard for the FL 1.

Just picked one up second hand and before I dive underneath and start pulling bits off the car, I wondered if I needed any Rivnuts or similar, or does this guard bolt straight through existing holes ? Do I need to drill the floor, lift all the carpets etc or is it a 15 minute job (unlikely on a Freelander !!!)

Thanks for any help..........

One of you two need to write a how to then as you go along!

Remember plenty of pictures!

Need to get it first, and find time to do it, but will do! Mine's a van, so I'm probably looking forward to a lot of floor- and fittings removal, if it actually needs to go through the floor

Yep, me too. If it means taking the back seats out and carpets up, it'll have to wait a week or two until I have time to get a good run at it. When I do though, I'll take some pickies to load up onto the thread. Don't hold your breath !!

OMG :D

This was described a long time ago... . Time for install a tank guard is about 1 hour.

No seats removal, just fold your rear bench, detach two parts of carpet then put it back to normal, remove sill finishers and warp carpet toward.

You will drill holes here:

Go under your car, detach exhaust from rubber mountings and position guard:

Handbrake linkage fixing will show you how it should fit

Before you start drilling, lock guard by rear fixings to suspension subframes
then drill 5 holes in the floor

Attach it with bolts to floor, put carpet back and that's all. Nothing serious to do ;)

Hi Winu,
That's brilliant, thanks for posting the info and photos. I searched high and low on threads to try in find something helpful, but couldn't come up with anything. I must have been barking up the wrong tree - again !!!
I'm off to find my spanners..............
