Thanks for that Pic is ok for idear you have saved me measuring as tht looks the same radio as i have Midland 121

Thanks for that V8jay:D:D

looks the part, does it catch you knee ????

No it doesn't, its just to left of the Clutch and a little higher, I guess due to my seat position etc its perfect for me, others may find its in the way though, but then no one else drives my Disco. :)

I managed to get the SWR down today to 1.1 :D

..
Was down by my Knees but kept knocking it so now ontop off dash have seen them up in the pockets above the window might put it up there.. gonna check first size wise
This is in a D2

That's blocking an awful lot of you're swept area and could easily be a good reason for ya insurer to walk away if you were ever involved in an accident. Might be worth shifting some of it..

My new Midland 248 arrived today with a SWR Meter and new Springer and mount, so after an hour I got it all fitted and with a SWR of 1.5 straight off I was quite happy. I couldn't believe how quiet the air waves are though, nothing like 30 years ago. :D I eventually got a rig check from a passing truck driver about 3 miles away so at least I know its working, I'll post up some pics in the next day or so. I'd like to see anyone else's set up in their Disco, I mounted mine in the drivers foot well, just about where my left knee is.

See attached pics! :D

Got a couple of photos of fitting mine. Bought a PSM mount with the entention of fitting it to the back of the truck next to the door, however discovered that the Disco has a inner skin that prevents that.
So improvised by welding a plate to my spare wheel carrier and fitting it there instead:

Would have got more pics of it up and running but 2 days later the truck was broken into and it was nicked.
Will replace it with another one however when i do i'm planning on making a custom storage area where the sunvisors are. Gonna fit it there along with aux switches and a second glovebox.

It was only AM that was illegal back then, just about everyone I knew was on the air I met several girlfriends over CB. :D

In those days we didn't have Mobile phones, or Computers and if you were really lucky your parents had a phone in the house on a party line with the neighbours, it was always fun listening in :D:D

History of UK CB RADIO

Fook me, sounds like my house, parents had a party line, I had a cb and a thunder pole on the roof which ****ed the neighbours off:)

Met the wife on the cb, still married, 28 years:)

It was a fun way to spend a few hours, then there's always the pub meets, eyeballs and so on. Now the Internet and texting has taken over I guess.

That is a nice looking setup.
Your Quick Realese doe's that have a spring init I had one and the spring kept falling out, lost the spring down a drain so it's now just bolted to the dome mount

Yes its got a spring in it, you just have to be careful when you take it off, I'll try not to park next to a drain.. :D
