Fitment help

The propshafts are all the same, 3 or 5 door 4 cylinder engines. VCUs are the same for all 4 cylinder engine variants.

The front drive shafts are different between 1.8 and TD4. But I'm assuming you were calling the propshafts, the driveshafts.?

Assuming you mean prop shafts rather than drive shafts, they will fit. However...

1) Did you remove your props? I ask 'cos why were they removed? May just have been the support bearings got noisey - but also highly likely damage was done to the transmission and the IRD and/or rear diff is not any more capable of sustaining 4WD.

2) The VCU you want to fit, have you tested it to be in serviceable condition? They usually aren't. Ignore what it 'looks like' as you can't see inside, it needs to be tested to make sure it will not wind up and trash your transmission. You may need to install it to do this - but test it before you drive it. See test #3 below...

3) If you've been driving 2WD, you don't need to make sure your tyres are all matched, but they will need to be if you go back 4WD. See the test #2 in the above link.

Brilliant thanks for all the info grumpygel, it was just in the back of my mind that someone at a dismantlers told me it wouldnt fit off a 1.8 but thought I'd check.i meant the drive shafts as I've developed a knocking on full lock on drivers front. (never known a car where I fix something and then 2 things go wrong lol)
Thanks again mate

He is correct. The 1.8 driveshafts are different to the TD4/V6. If you are after driveshafts then don't buy cheap as they are often worse than old genuine. Only buy OE or genuine as replacements, or vibration will result.
