Went for a play yesterday up the Wayfarer.
What a day spoke to the farmer up there first who said road was closed but if we wanted to try it was up to us.
So off we went was a little etchy at first once over that bit it was great.
Cant wait to get back out now.

Nice pics.
What concerns me is that the Farmer said it was closed. If it's TRO'd you shouldn't be driving it. You risk having your car crushed.

He said it was because the one part was un passable and didnt want us to damage the vehicles.
There was no signs up to say it was closed either.

Did you check that it was legal to drive the Lane? because a Farmer saying "well the lanes closed but if you want to drive it you can" Will not be accepted as a legal reason to ignore a TRO. and may lead to the confiscation and crushing of your vehicle.

let the slaughter begin!
Don't worry Andy take the crap and get on but you really should check it out a bit more in future. And never stray off piste

Cool someone already done it for me!

It was checked out. the guy who i went with lives in that area and drives it all the time its a legal byway.

The legality of the Wayfarer is not really in question but I do know that it was closed for repairs. Apparently there is (was) a TRO on it but I was told the sign for the TRO was only shown at one end of the byway. The only way to really know the situation is to check with the local authority Rights Of Way officer and/or check their website.

good (if not a little incriminating) pics. Getting the lane checked by the row officer is the only way to go, think one of the essex lot got/getting some signs changed which say bridleway when it really is a lane.Dont let this put ya off, maybe check with some off here where ya can go local to you-they might meet ya and let ya buy em beerlaff at ya wen ya stuck/put pics on here

A TRO is unenforcable if its not signposted correctly. If its been signposted at only one end of the lane, but the TRO covers both directions..... :doh:

Maybe someone's removed the other as a souvenir or its blown off with the wind?
