ok guys so i joined Landyzone several months ago now and with the hope of turning my disco 2 into a camper for our trip around Europe! however before turning it into a camper i needed to get it through its MOT!
sounds simple really... except its not... why you ask? because its a land rover!
My friend who did all the welding said on a regular basis "land rover great concept, poorly executed"
so last time i was on here i asked for a help because my rear chassis legs and cross member where F***ED since then we have changed them along with also finding rot behind the rear air suspension and shock absorber cutting that out re-plating that too!
Somewhere in the middle of all this i also found out the Fuel Pressure Regulator had gone so there was another nuance of a job to change and we also did a full service! diff oils, gear box oil, engine oil + filters
i then spent 2 days brushing and grinding off old rust and paint and giving it a new coat of tetraseal (mixed with the skin and blood off my knuckles) and a little seam sealant to make the welds look pretty
finally took it for an MOT yesterday and it FAILED!
F**K!!!!
well to be fair it was a pretty clear cut fail as can be seen in the picture of my old nearside spring! it had snapped and looked pretty bad and one of the near side bulbs was out
So this morning i woke nice and early and sacked university off for the day to get it replaced and in for its MOT again. i should have changed the shock too as the bottom bush was knackered but it was only an advisory on the mot and after looking it over i found that at some time in the future it can be changed without removing the spring again and its a pretty easy too! so back went in the old shock
SO.. about 2 hours ago it went back in for its retest and PASSED!
