drowned suspension pump?

Hi there, the first thing I would say is that your Land Rover specialist don't know what they are talking about ! They also don't have LR-specific diagnostic equipment so in my opinion they are NOT an LR specialist.

The first thing to consider is that the "Three Amigo's" and the rear air suspension systems are completely separate, for the purposes of this diagnosis.

1. If the air suspension is staying up correctly, operates correctly with the "ORM" button on the dashboard to raise the rear suspension, then there is no problem with the air compressor (pump), it is working as it should.

2. Now moving onto the ABS, Hill-descent and Traction Control lights. These systems all work through the braking system, so that's where the problem will lye.

Working on the assumption that this is the first time these lights have shown themselves - after this dunking - then I would say you need to
have the system interrogated by a dedicated LR diagnostic unit such as Nano EVO or Hawkeye. This will give some reasonable idea as to the location of the problem. Go to the D2BoysClub forum to find someone local enough to you, to help you.

Then follow the abs cables and check each connecter associated with the system. Pull them apart, spray them with WD-40 to remove moisture then spray with connect cleaner and leave to dry. Re-assemble and check functioning.

The majority of the time the "Three Amigo's" are tripped by chafed cables, bad connectors and worn wheel hub bearings.

Cheers

Dave

they do have all the correct equipment at Landranger garage.but if the boss is not around then things tend to get missed.

thanks for all that info, yes it is the first time they have appeared.
The air suspension hasn't dropped and the raising/lowering button is binging correctly when used on the dash, but I havn't checked from outside (derr!) so I will do today.
I had one of the front wheel hubs replaced last April for the MOT (worn bearing).
The handbrake and those lights haven't shown their faces for a couple of days, last time they came on I had gone through a reasonable size puddle not a flood and within seconds they flashed on (its impossible not to have to drive through water on the roads of some description at the mo) but they reset ok.
I may sound like a complete numpty but I really hadn't expected my car to be so sensitive to water, I'm driving round every tiny bit of water terrified I'm going to trip something else out!

If you go here you will find D2 owners who are willing to help with their diagnostic gear.

You need to register, but it's a very useful site for D2 owners and there's no crap !!!

ok, so suspension pump seems to be fine, raising and lowering correctly.
Will check on the ABS stuff tomorrow, hoping we get a few hours without persistent rain!

I posted the thread with the stupidest notion that I would get valuable assistance (not sympathy) from experienced, knowledgeable people.

I didn't count on bullying, patronising behaviour from supposed adults!

However, my faith has been restored by the kind and helpful comments I have received (some private inbox) and I thank those who took time to respond.

Thankyou once again Mr Dave and all the others, I'll post my results once I've beaten this so anything useful may be passed on.

Well another arsey noob. Not the first wont be the last

Hi Jacquie, I think you'll be able to get your Disco running sweetly again without too much grief or expense.

Unfortunately coming on here you stumbled on quite a hard school with some 'members' being just that - dickheads. But there are many others who are sincere in their desire to help Landy owners.

Try not to take the silly low-level responses to heart - to be honest most of them have no friends so it's there only opportunity to interact with grown-ups and they're not very good at it yet!

If you need any more help just pm me directly, and I'll do what I can.

you know I thought your little icon input during the thread was quite amusing.
Obviously you must think the comments I made were aimed at you? What does that tell you about yourself...

Were your comments aimed at me? Mine were aimed at you. And they still stand which is nice.

jesus woman you posted bloody near midnight and started getting arsy at the first reply....trust me youve got off very lightly and had some good sensible replies in a very short time...
