Hi guys I’ve all of a sudden been getting a yellow warning light on my lr3 2006 suspension fault so the motor lifts from normal height to off road for about 2 inches and then says suspension fault normal height only,,,,, when I take it out it’s good as gold on a flat road but once it’s starts bouncing around it comes up red light 30mph and drops to it’s bumps stops the machine when plugged in was saying left ride height sensor fault can’t remember the code I will get it again and update if I need to so I replaced that with a genuine landrover one now the code is saying something about not being able to communicate with left height sensor which is screaming a wiring problem I have read about a so called red wire issue on some forums but haven’t the foggiest idea where to look for these sets or groups of wires any help would be much appreciated cheers

Hi

When u fitted the new height sensor did u use diagnostics to do a full suspension recalibration update plse , also a good idea to check the steering wheel angle sensor degrees, so with the steering wheel and tyres dead straight it should read zero

The suspension heights front should be 466mm rears 488mm , this is measured in normal ride height from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch liner

This needs to be done on a flat as possible surface and what scanner are u using plse

Hope that gets u started

On my mates machine it came up with C bus couldn’t send or receive data or something m8 I will later on get the code it says,,, all the other 3 sensors click but the front left doesn’t seem to and it’s brand new genuine part too

Also his scanner is a snap-on

Thks for the update and indeed if u can advise us of the codes plse

With the code readers live data it should allow u to see what the height sensor voltages are , that way u can ensure power is getting to the height sensor and back to the ecu , with the live data u can check all of them and how it compares to that front one

Fingers crossed the codes will show in more detail of why the warning lights are coming up

Hope this is useful to u

Am gunner get the codes later tonight thank you so much am just at at point where I don’t wanna spend loads more money and it be a loose wire or bad connection lol

Ur so very welcome and that will be great to get the codes

Understand where ur coming from, when I got my D3 the suspension had been terribly neglected so was in a right mess and took me ages so understand the frustration

Plenty of us here to help u go through it step by step , if u would be so kind to let us know what the heights are for each wheel that will also help us , have put the heights they should be in my previous post

Here’s a sheet as well of rhat the pressures should be

Hope it helps

Hi m8 just a quick 1 but if I bent the housing the rear sensor sits in could this be my problem as the little bolts holding the sensor in were rotten to the core i had to force the old one out bending the metal box that it sits in i did bend it back to where i thought it was but now the boxes on the screen in the truck 3 are all bang centre but the rear right is off the centre line

This is all the information the code reader told us hope this helps

Many thks and will check them out in the morning so I can have a good read

In the mean time when u chance would u be so kind to measure the heights for me plse in mm , will then know if it’s correct or not and can then go from there, will also tell us how much that bracket if at all is out by

Plse don’t worry as more than happy to help as much as we can

Have you checked and I mean really checked the wiring close to the dodgy sensor?
You can buy short repair looms.

when I measured the ride heights in normal height mode i had 4 different readings all within the 400mm range from the centre of the wheel to the underside of the arch but in the morning I will measure them and send you message where do you want me to measure to and from

Hi fellas today I changed the centre valve block been on a test drive and it’s been fine doesn’t drop to the bump stops the only thing is soon as I try and select access height or off road it’s says suspension fault still of this helps a don’t know all the wheels on the screen are now level and doing as they should it’s got me baffled it really has

Hi m8 am gunner have a look at the wiring in the morning is it under the front passenger side sill
The wiring that plugs into each height sensor is a known problem area, and as you have disturbed the wiring to fit the new sensor.

Plus 1 in checking the wires to double check that there ok to each height sensor

After that if u would let us know the readings on each wheel in mm , set to normal ride height , from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of the wheel arch liners plse

That will let us know how far out the suspension heights are , as ultimately because u changed a height sensor a full height calibration is required

Know it can be frustrating and plenty of us here to help to walk u through it step by step

Did u happen to clear all the codes and do a rescan after fitting a new reservoir valve plse

Hope that also helps u

Well for a start you need to check that wiring I said the first 6 inches or so from each height senso

Front left 460mm, front right 470mm, rear left 465mm, rear right 470mm,,,, we cleared all the codes but I’ve not had them cleared since I changed the centre valve block we did try to calibrate it but it kept saying couldn’t do it because couldn’t contact the left front sensor,,, but since the centre valve block change it’s running as it should fault light decides to come on when it feels like it and when it does it no longer drops to the bump stops but if I flick the switch to change ride height to off road or access it moves about an inch and says normal height only,,, hope this info helps as I’m new to all this cheers for you input so far much appreciated
