Hello. For a while my drivers door actuator has been broken, so it won't lock on the key. I have to lock all the other doors on the key and then this one manually.

The other week I locked the vehicle, went to unlock all the other doors, and the key fob didn't work. So I manually unlocked the drivers door with the key (immobiliser went off) tried putting key in ignition and it wouldn't turn off (had to disconnect battery).

Anyway, has anybody had any experience in repairing the actually drivers door locks themselves?

They key won't go all the way in, let alone turn. If I could get this to work again, i'd be happy.

I know it's not a work key, because both keys don't work, so it's definitely the lock.

Many thanks

Hi, it seems you have two problems then, one is most probably with the roof receiver which will not let you unlock with the fob and if the car's alarm is on factory setting the immobiliser can be disabled only with the fob, the other problem is with the door lock

though you should explain better cos i'm a bit confused:

first you say you locked with the key but then that suddenly the fob didnt work...so if the fob was working before that why did you lock the doors with the key and not with the fob:confused:

when you say you locked all the other doors with the key do you mean with the key in the driver's door which didnt lock just activated the central locking for the others then you pushed down the sill button and shut the driver's door:confused: ... why didnt you lock the doors with the dash button then?

anyyway you shouldn't have let this thing go so far after the first symptoms IMO... now you'll have to fix the fob unlocking issue too to disable the immobiliser... though if the switch within the driver's door actuator is gone and blocked in a middle position this would stop the fob to work too cos the BCU doesnt receive the door's status through the switch so replace the actuator and fix the barrel too first..then if no joy replace the roof receiver too...and if after that still no joy you are in deep sh*t cos maybe you'll have to replace the BCU

Thanks for the reply, but to clarify.

The drivers door never unlocked or lockeed on the key since i've had it (actuator)

So i'd lock all doors on the fob, and then drivers door on the key.

Then the fob gave up, so i'd lock all doors from the dash button, and then drivers door on the key.

And the other day the drivers door lock gave up.

I can insert the key 3/4 of the way, and it won't turn in either direction.

I'd primarily like to just fix the door lock, is this possible without a replacement?

Many thanks.

unfortunately i'm not completely clarified cos:

so maybe it's cos enlgish is my third language but it's hard for me to understand how did you lock "on the key" while it "never unlocked or lockeed on the key:confused:

anyway... Discool is (partially) right, your problem is with the barrel, which if doesnt cede with lubricants you must remove it and go to a locksmith... but the statement that "nothing is wrong with the lock" seems wrong cos something is wrong with the lock(provided it means latch/actuator) as long as it didnt work on the fob... unless it's some wiring issue to it cos that's possible too

to remove the handle(cos you can't remove the barrel other way) see attachment

My reply was to post #3 and quote "I can insert the key 3/4 of the way, and it won't turn in either direction" therefore there is nothing wrong with the lock, it's the barrel has the issue to give this problem. :p
