been fiddling again! trying to make my doors close and seal a bit better and replacing glazing strips.

in the process i decided to whip off the door tops as they were a bit "wiggly", turns out the previous owner hadnt heard of copper grease or doing things properly!
The bolts were rusted in (all new doors btw), and the rubber seal was on upside down!
Yes, he saw the rivets on the galv strip, and the channel in the rubber seal to go over them and thought "whats that for?", put it on upside down and overtightened the nuts!

My q is i know which side is up, but which side is in?
On the top of the seal there is an upstand, the way these have been cut to fit, this can only go on the out side, catching water, and a bit higher than the weep holes on the tops.
Surely this should be inside?

Also any one got details/pics of the glazing setup, and what if any seals/sealer do you use?

I will be painting soon and will strip doors apart so i need to order stuff soon.

Any one made up door cards? I was thinking 1/4 ply, foam, leatherette.

All advice welcome.

Thanks
James

thats the stuff, i know which way is up with that seal, but which side is in?
guessing the lip/up-stand should be in the car?

might be painting sooner than i expected, i powerwashed it today and managed to get to bare metal in a few places!
and that with a hobby, low pressure washer!

Ditto here, my tops look to have an aluminium finish under where the paint had not keyed properly, I feel some nitromors looming.
I may also try running some zinc paint inside the tops....not sure how practical that will be though.

what primer will you use? its supposed to be etching, but my local place hadnt heard of it, will normal do?

I found some aerosol spray etch primer on ebay that I will be trying, no idea how good it is.
The best, I found is the 2 part zinc chromate primer I used years ago, don't seem to be able to find it anymore:(
