MOT-wise there is no requirement to have a spare wheel - but if you do, then it must be in a legal condition.

Errrrrr no, spare doesn't come into MOT atall, illegal or other wise, however the tester can do a manual advisary on a flat or illegal tyre if he want's to. BUT if you get stopped by plod with an illegal tyre i think they can do you for an illegal spare anorl.
