hi all

has anyone ever tried to make there own tow bar ?
im sure it cant be hard as long as you can weld and use thick steel

does anyone on here have any plans/drawings with measurements?

cheers

Its illegal to use a non EU type approved tow bar etc on public roads anywhere in Europe, otherwise we'd sell ours as tow bars ;)

Pity you're so far away, I was giving away atowbar from the wifes Freelander 1 a while back, the guy never sent a courier and I bunged it in the back of the garage.
It was a bought one and only the bit that bolts under the vehicle as I used the rest for an extension to pull my boat out the water.
(wonder how long it will take for the vultures to swoop).

there is also another point with tow bars if you buy one new do NOT drill any holes in it or your guarantee is void , and if you are posting one try
Collect plus you print the ticket off and then take it to one of the many places that take them in like Bargain booze they are far cheaper than the post office

well seeing you all said it was illegal to make your own for use on road

i went on the old german ebay and bid on a gen landrover one

i won item for equivalent of £50 posted :):):):):):):):)
won it late monday night ,paid for it straight away ,im morning had a email saying had been dispatch, later that day had a email saying item would be at my addy next day between 1030-1200 and to my surprise it arrived at 1030 ,cant get over how quick the item got to me :):):):):):):):) and seeing its second hand it looks pritty darn good in my opinion :):):) just needs a lick of hammer right (maybe )

Height adjustment and a hidden away plug socket. Very nice!

I am forever bending my light socket!

Did you get bolts with it, to bolt it to the chassis. I won one too, but I can't buy the bolts for love nor money. Local bolt place, was gonna charge 10 pound per bolt ;-O

got mine from e bay uk including bolts and wiring, for £50 too, but considering it was via a freelander salvage yard around 30 miles from my house, took over a week to get here, go figure
