wow... your disco looks awesome , already welded and replaced a few known spots in mine, but your pics make me want to do it all...

Hi greenhornet no wish i did lol, just read ur comment made me other half laugh, its hard work but u will have a fantastic motor at the end, i know how it feels as i just had to put mine in my garage as mot due today but its got the dreaded rust worm i gotta do both inner front wings, repair the passenger side sill (small hole), both rear wheel tubs and whatever else i find, just gonna patch it all for now but want to replace all next year, so keep up the good work as reading ur thread keeps me going lol :)

Shortarse,

You will like the photos coming this weekend as I am tackling the inner wings on mine. Howeer I have to finish off the nearside sill first and then get cracking on the inner wings. I will keep you in mind when taking photos and making notes. Glad I can make your missus chuckle, normally I only do that to my missus in the bedroom lol

lol cool looking forward to the pics, i didnt want to just plate mine but as its so close to xmas i just want her on the road then i can tackle it properly next year

As you probably know, I have gotten all my panels from YRM Metal. The customer service is good and their panels are well put together for the price. There are a few other choices on fleabay but the feedback researching YRM Metal was very good. I spent about £30 or so on the inner wings each side I think.

yeah i looked at yrm just with it this close to xmas cant afford it so patch for now then do it properly next year, although i have spent most of today cutting and shaping some metal for the passenger side inner arch just gotta weld it all up now then move on to more holes lol, i did find some inner arches on buckley brothers for a classic range rover which is the same as the disco and they are a bit cheaper to so might get them after xmas depending on how happy i am with the outcome of my patches.

Just for reference Britpart do practically every panel for the RRC, like you say they are same for disco. Wish I'd known that before I started fabricating my own rear inner quarter panels which were rotten to **** and like welding cheese!

RRC & Disco are NOT the same - but very similar...... I have an RRC footwell here, and its not quite the same as a Disco footwell.

If anyone wants it - at cost?????

Rear tubs are DEFINITELY the same though because my disco has got a dent in the NS rear tub where the spare wheel goes on a RRC.

Actually yeah MHM, a RRC boot floor is longer int' it?

I still get frustrated at making patch panels. To be honest I don't have a proper folding device that fits in a vice so bending panels is a bugger. It takes ages to make up small panels that fit the hole and will weld in properly, however once done I do get some satisfaction when it looks nice - followed by utter despair when the welding is ****e lol

I didn't know that some panels are compatitible between disco and RRC. I knew the chassis and suspension are the same however it would be useful if the floor came out in the Disco like it does in the defender to access the gearbox for a clutch change.

well i do most jobs myself on my cars but this is a first so its a bit of a learning curve so hopefully it will go ok, if not at least i'll of had practice before i buy new panels lol, yeah some panels are the same not all tho
