So I'm new to the LR, long story short went through 3-4 inches of water on the passenger side and now the left side carpets are soaked. The windows are fine, no sign or ingress through the roof etc. Any ideas of what it could be and a reputable LR capable mechanic in/near Stafford?
Many thanks in advance from a complete newb.
:)

Sunroofs tend to leak into the front foot wells I do believe, not relevant to driving through a puddle though.
3 inches of water is nothing, maybe its a red herring and unrelated to the wet carpet?

sun roof seals have been done after purchase. The seller was very diligent about ensuring the car was A1 before letting me take it.
Was told it could be the bulkhead seal?

It will almost certainly be the sunroof drain pipes that are leaking at the grommets where they feed to the outside of the car.
You can pour water in from the top and see it come out, the problem is it does not all come out so it fools you into thinking the grommets are good.
The drain pipe on the nearside left of the car is hidden behind the fuse panel and you have to remove the fuse panel to get access to the pipe and grommet, it is not too bad to remove it, but to get it all back in is a real toss pot of a job!

This is nearside grommet
