Hi All,

I have been wondering about upgrading the 2 rather pathetic speakers which are in the base of the doors in my 1996 300 tdi. Much as I love the noise of the engine - it would be nice for me (let alone anyone in the back) to hear the radio or cd!! I was thinking about putting 2 speakers in the rear either side of the door as per usual and possibly 2 in the roof just behind the front seats but then is saw the rugged ridge sound bar for jeeps it is 47 inches long and is supposed to fit the roll bar of a jeep but I reckon it could be attached to the roof of a landy. Has anyone tried this and if so how easy was it? It just seems like an easy option for lots of sound in one install (if slightly expensive! and of course its for a Jeep not a landy!!)

Mudstuff sell genuine LR rear speaker panels which I fitted to my 90 in place of the standard rear light wiring covers. They fit a 4" speaker and still leave room for folding seats in the rear. They're made for the curent station wagon so some minor trimming is needed to make them fit, but they look great when installed.

Also built a roof shelf with a sloped end into which the speakers are mounted. Also have the interior light mounted up there. Works a treat.

I've got a sheet of ply I'm going to make something out of. I had copied bankz idea with the shelf but I don't like it where it is and want the speakers up behind me and out of the way. Got a truck cab so I'm a bit tight for space but once I make something I'll stick a pic up

Will do mate, with any luck it will arrive Friday though I doubt ill be able to fit it for a couple weeks....

Reviews seem decent enough, one even from a chap fitting it to his 90.

Woo it arrived today! Its very posh :D really smart looking and very well designed. Rather heavy but then again it is an amp & sub in one. Its also tiny, will fit happily on the bulkhead behind the cubby box.

Comes with its own labelled wireing kit which is nice and also got another free kit from the guy I got it off so win win.

Ive got a day off tomorrow so I might have a go at fitting it, though that said my drill is a peice of **** so maybe maybe not.

I stuck loft insulation to the sides then fitted plywood over it made cutouts for a pair of 6x9 speakers at the very back and a pair of 5" speakers in the front it sounds good and its loud enough although id need an amp to get the full sound of the speakers I dont need it... a few people suggested a subwoofer fitted in the bulkhead behind the seats... not my taste but im sureits someones
