Cruise Control Issue

Hi Newbie here,
Great site and very informative for a non mechanical guy.
I have a 2001 Freelander 1 V6 Auto ES and the cruise control has developed issues. I have checked all fuses and they are okay and as far as I can the vacuum line. The switch light illuminates but the motorway on the instrument panel does not. Anybody had this issue or can advise me further. Dealer wants an arm and a leg just to plug it in!!!!! Otherwise very pleased with the vehicle, famous last words!

well I supposed you have switched it on and the motor way light will not come on until you set it so there must be a problem with the setting of it

Check your brake lights work properly

Thanks for the responses. Yes switch illuminates okay which I assume means working okay but no motorway light after attempting to set the speed. Brake lights work okay.
