So...while I have been spending a solid amount of time looking for all the little bits and bobs to basically bring the 300tdi ES back up to scratch (pretty much trying to put her back to factory standard-ish for the moment) I couldn't help but wonder... was the TD5 just a facelift? Is taking the headlights, bumper and related front end trim from a TD5 and plonking it on a TDi easily doable or a fiddly fartarse of a job that wouldn't be worth losing patience over?

Yeah it's a fair point mate, was literally just an idea bouncing around after looking at so many parts. Cheers for replying :)

have a look at sturox's old thread, it shows how to fit the TD5 lights

Better off fitting HD bumpers on a 300 series or leaving the standard ones on and making them look good with some heat and oil

Sorry to hijack (but sort of feel I can since I have fitted facelifted TD5 headlights :p) How is that rear bumper coming along??

I have got my new winch bumper fitted now (just need to get myself a winch now ) and will be soon modding it to weld on my wrap-around bullbar, so won't be going along the tube styling for my rear - will be box sections to match the front and rocksliders, but always open to inspiration ;)

Rear bumpers on hold til next week now :) got all me bits for it though and once complete/leccy installed it'll be up for sale :D

I failed the first time using box but this method is working! Three pieces cut and mounted together with angle iron works nicely and I can also fit my tank guards to the bumper ;)

Cool...

I like this sort of design...

and would switch it to box sections...

But not sure on the bottom parts with having a tank guard and detachable tow bar - would need to work on the top part and then play by ear on the rest....

Was gonna say if you were closer you coulda had the old materials off me for £30 as I've got a nice big piece of angle for that mount and some box that'd do for the middle and sides, all nice 5mm stuff with jacking points and tow bar/mount holes already in it

Nah, will be sending down a bumper for Snowman V8 beforehand though :) so maybe able to sort something

He's having a modified version of that HD one I've put build pics up of with quad recovery points and wider box section, a chassis leg cover on the end and tapered ends. In return for a cheap one he's putting some of my stickers on his landy

Bummer - get yaself down mate - its a good laugh.

But if not, let me know if you can get something arranged as def interested in the steel

Cannae afford it  will be at Eastnor though!

Gotta get the series on the road too, its coming back to mine this weekend :D that and I've got a few bumpers to make up in order to fund the fuel cost and turn the series into a semi advertising vehicle :) going black body, red chassis, red and black rock sliders then a nice chunky bumper up front with the concealed headlights, indicators etc and a nice big sticker/vinyl on the rear or bonnet, not decided on that one yet
