Clattering noise

When I have the heater fan on there is sometimes a loud clattering noise which sounds horrific coming from the engine compartment , anyone any ideas , thanks very much in anticipation ..

if it is the td4 have a look at the bottom belt pulley if you can see "angel" dust around it is on its way out .by fair dust I mean metal dust and as soon as you shine a light on it it glitters.

Try checking the inner wheel arch covers. I had this when one was touching the aircon pulley. (Aircon comes on during some vent positions when you put on the fan without putting the aircon light on).
