A strange problem with my central locking...have done lots of searching and tried a few things out but to no avail.

Car is a MY05 Freelander SE TD4.

Basically, the remote key fob opens the driver's side door, but no other doors. A second key press will open the tailgate, but no other doors.

I can open all the doors from the inside with a single pull of the door latch. The key fob will also lock all doors with a single press.

The door lock switch on the driver's side door will lock all doors, but will not open them.

The central locking used to work as expected but over the winter it stopped working....pain in the backside when you're trying to get a kid in the back and it's raining!

Have checked the fuse (20A) and that's OK. Have replaced batteries in keyfobs and resync, they are working OK Have disconnected main battery for 10 mins and that didn't fix it.

Other threads have suggested door lock actuators, but surely all three (passenger side front, passenger side rear, driver side rear) wouldn't have failed at the same time?

One thread suggests doing a full reset of the CCU (disconnect battery, connect terminals together for 15 mins, separate for a further 15 mins, reconnect battery), but it also suggests the stereo will lock and require a code to be entered...I don't have this code so am reluctant to do this.

Any suggestions before I take the door cards off to see if I can see what is going on?

Thanks
Rob

Try the reset thing with the battery 1st....

But usually its the door locking module thats at fault. There wre two motors inside the module one for lock and one for unlock.....the unlock motor always seems to fail. So buying a 2nd hand one is false economy. The brushes or the armature on the open motor burn out......ive opened a few up and its always the same..ive managed to change the brushes from another similar motor I had knocking around...but the armature is a no go.....

I think a new module can be bought for 40 English pounds last time I looked.
