Yeah you'll need somebody else with a CB or you'll have nobody to talk to :D

:D :D Snigger :D :D

SWR meter will be handy too ;)

:D It may be obvious but it's all good and honest! :D

Don't forget the cable to connect the antenna to the CB and make sure you get the little bracket to hang the mic up in a US cop type way :p

I think the mic bracket will come with the cb ;) ......................
mine did anyway :D

You'll need a PL259 patch lead (£2.99 from Maplin) for your swr meter too unless you find some kind sole close to you who'll let you borrow theirs.

If your only going to be using it for chatting to other folks out with you green laning or at a pay n play, you wont need an all singing all dancing cb, just about any cheap one will do.
If on the other hand you want to chat to folks across the sea then you'll want a bit more power than a cheap cb can put out.
Same goes for the areial.
No point spending a fortune to chat to some one only a mile or two away from you. ;)

I was just about to tell him all that :D:D

Ok, your heads on the line now, just got a midland 38 with one of them filter things on ebay.
I now need an aerial, what sort?
A lead from that to the cb
A hanger
And someone with an SWR meter, don't know why tho?
And a patch lead

You'll need an SWR meter or friend with one, to make sure the arial is tuned for want of a better expression.

Google will put you on the right track. I've got a copy of the procedure and why you need to do it somewhere pm me if you cant find the info.

Yeah hopefully.

I'd volunteer but your a bit too far away :(

Oh beware of aerials sold as SWR pre-tuned.
It's not that there is no such thing, it will have been pre-tuned but to what?
Your aerail needs a groundplane (i.e. Your vehicle or other big lump of metal) that is matched to it. Achieved by electrically shortening or lengthening the aerial.
So unless it's been pre-tuned on a landy like yours and mounted in the same way as you are going to mount yours it's "pre-tuning" will not be correct. ;)
