Exactly - that's forum #38, way down on the page. AND it doesn't contain a Disco 1 buyer's guide (at least, not in the stickys or page 1). AND anyone can post there, so it gets clogged up with irrelevant stuff, diluting its worth. AND its in thread format, which isn't the best way to consolidate the info into an easily readable/usable form, although its easy for authors to write. Even a plain old HTML page with some pictures would be better, but someone would have to trawl through the forum, edit the rubbish out and collate all the pics, etc.

yu cant havbe a suib forum with EVERYTHING on page1 ffs - maybe yu would like it to contain only things of interest to you ?

of course you can SORT that sub forum into alphabetic order so the titles are all in car order????
or you could "SEARCH WITHIN FORUM" which makes life a tad simpler.
or you could highlight to the MODs when peeps post crap - so that it can be modereated propper.
or you could get peeps to read the thread AT THE TOP OF THAT FORUM ENTITLED "http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f38/please-read-before-posting-section-75701.html" which is a sticky and at the top of page1.

you're spot on, but unfortunately newbies don't follow your suggestions. Most people only look at page 1, or the screen in front of them, and click on stuff they see there. So you'd need to very carefully design the first web page so it contains all the stuff you want users to click on. The more "clicks" away, the less likely the info is to be seen. The actual content would be fairly easy to set - you'd mark out common topics based on search popularity or numbers of threads posted on that subject.

Search within forum? Don't think many users will be doing that, especially new ones.

Moderators don't moderate the quality of posts, they're not authors or editors, they're just there to uphold the (very basic) rules.

Getting people to read stuff before they post is tricky, they scan the page quickly and unless its sufficiently attractive or obvious; or they're physically prevented from posting until they've clicked it; they won't click and will just go ahead and post.

Some reasonable ideas are revealing themselves so keep them coming.

Nope - they just delete posts or threads as stated - but they can only do that if WE tell em - they cant be expected to read every post. They rely on US helping them.

If peeps dont read, then they shudnt post, coz they wont read answers.

maybe changing the title of the "Common Questions " subforum might stop peeps asking questions there - but its bin asked for several times.
One thing that MODs can do is to amalgamate threasds of identical subject, thereby stopping multiple postings.

This is the life of a thread.

Someone posts a question
Someone takes the ****
Someone says 'do a search ffs'
Someone offers advice
Someone disagrees.
There's a fight.

Short pause.

Original Poster asks same question.
Someone posts some porn.
A long debate on East european workers.
There's a fight.
Someone offers advice.
Original Poster says thanks.
A long discussion on politics.
Someone gets banned.

Everyone feels good about themselves.

Yeah but that is sort of unique to this forum and very much part of it,and now xmas is outta the way.......

I'd be happy to volunteeer my help but I'm relatively new myself and I'm quite busy with work/college. The mods or admins are free to PM me.

And while having a lot of good thoughts on how the forums could be set out over these 4 pages, only a couple of posts talk about the Subject matter of this thread. Thereby making a search resulting here for Disco buying advise fairly pointless ;)

Can someone change the title?
