Cut a long story short i can get all unipart and britpart cheap (cost price + 10%) which mean i can get a HD suspension wth 40mm lift springs and shocks for about £80

is this a good idea would you do it, nelly reconks its **** and will break within a week. I dont reli think matters as if it broke i would get new ones on warrenty and end of the day they are cheap

britpart/****parts, never used em meself and doubt i ever wud after reading threads on ere about how **** they are

yer would be amazed, some **** part i have used has been very good, but some has been so bad its not even had chance to get on the road, its broken on the ramps ! :(
at the end of the day its all about what yer willing to pay , so pay yer money and take yer chance ! and yes they are covered by warrenty , so you will be good at fitting them after doing it ten times !

cud be worse yer could go ta craddocks and get handed a box with allmakes 4x4 on it on then get told its genuine parts:rolleyes:fooker dint expect the response he got thou:mad:

I have HD springs on, yellow, presumably Britpart (dunno really) and they're pretty good. They get used off-road, on-road and really work well. No sag, no breakages, no issues at all with them!

I dunno if other companies produce springs in the yellow, but if mine are Britpart then I'd say they're pretty good!

hahah, been there too !

had a genuine lr box with a ****pat fool pump in, from paddocks mind, then in his defence he said it must have been put in the wrong box as the re-use packing ! how convenient ! ;) was replaced straight away tho, and so it should !

yeah i think the yellow ones are i think what the problem is that some people on here have had some problems so then everyone jumps on the ****part bandwagon with out even trying them

thers some good britparts about , dont get me wrong , but like yer say, every ****er jumps on the band waggon when they hear it mentioned , i have used far worse makes than britpart

I was given the rears free and paid £5 for the fronts, so not for me to say really. You might find that a 40mm lift on a HD spring is actually a standard height spring (mine are) but 'cos they're HD they don't sag so you gain a lift but lose some softness and suppleness in the suspension for it.

A lot depends what you want a lift for. If it's to make it better off-road I'd say save your money and wait until you can afford 'normal' weight springs that have 2" lift minimum and couple them with longer shocks and brake lines. You might want to check some other threads on the forum about other drive-line potential problems when lifting suspension.

A standard Disco with larger diameter AT or MT tyres can go a hell of a long way off-road before it needs further help. I'd rather wait until I could do a full lifting package than do it piece-meal. Mine is springs only 'cos it's mostly road-based, though I still use it pretty much every weekend off-road.

yeah, but you also need to factor in replacing the rest of the suspension system ( panhard rods etc) otherwise yer landy will be all over the place on the road.
Im wi dripper on this spend yor money on good tyres and stick with the original suspension setup ( until you can afford to replace the lot)

The rods that hold the axles parallel and square to the chassis ...

There are other potential issues ...

You probably won't, I haven't ... but a Landrover is a Landrover and some are seemingly built to different tolerances than others!

;)

Manby last year on standard suspension .. same tyres BFG AT 31 x 10.5 on 7j Alloys ...

Earlier this year on HD springs, same tyres BFG AT's 31 x 10.5 but on 8J Steel wheels and is at about same angle as previous pic ...
