Hi all
Im thinking of fitting a winch to my disco. I was looking at the Brit part winch package i.e. winch and bumper together. Has anyone had any exprience of the Brit part winches.
Roger

a little over priced in my opinion, as it's the same cheap chinese made winch you can get off ebay for 200 quid.

Look at the gear ratio, some are 254:1....slow. Warn's are 156:1 or there abouts, with a reasonably fast no load wind in speed.

Well, I bought a superwinch lp10000 for £318 and when it arrived it was obvious that it was a cheap Chinese one with nice stickers on.

Ok it was branded, but I dont know if it is any better than a non branded.

I could have bought a non brand with synthetic rope for same price as my superwinch with steel - 8 months later I spent 160 on a synthetic line.

I'd buy as cheap as possible or as expensive as I could afford now, no point getting a cheap branded one cos they're all the same chinese ****.

I reckon it's 200-250 or 500 plus mate to get value for money.

Cheers

Agree. I was looking for a winch and I heard good things about superwinch. I looked at them and to me they're the same ebay crap with stickers on.

I feel a bit ripped off tbh that it's still a Chinese winch.

All I bought it for was a reputable warranty, but as yet I haven't needed it.

Anyway, such is life.

If I was buying again I'd buy a 12000 or 15000 non brand. Those ones with the solenoid clipped onto the drum bars need the solenoid relocating cos the brackets soon enough fall off :)

regardless of make of winch the 1st thing i would do is to fit an albright solenoid only around £45 a lot more reliable and you can mount them anywhere and there waterproof

the bumpers are really good

the winches, well i wouldnt use one for competition

good for occasional recovery, i wouldnt hang off the end of a cliff with one either

but i would on the end of a warn

all depends on what you want out of it really
