At the moment, 3 amigos are intermittent, one of the causes could be the brake light switch (BLS), if the BLS is at fault would the light's still operate when the 3 amigos are lit.

Hi Barry,
Read through the break light replacement thread which is sticky'd on top.
When I did the switch my brake-lights did not come on when 3 amigos were on. Upgrading switch did the trick on my 2005 td4.
