my truck is up for sale as you have prob seen on here £2000 is cheap considering the condition and that what has been spent and done to it, some cheeky git just offered me £1000!!!
my reply was i would rather set fire to it!

perhaps so but my p38 dse has had around £4500 in parts alone spent on it in the last 14months so is in damn good condition with no electrical faults!

Sad thing is Nath, that a £1000.00 car is a £1000.00 car no matter what has been spent on it. Maybe you should have spent the £4,500.00 on a newer model. I have a 99 with all the bells and whistles, in very good nick with low mileage for year and i don't think in todays climate i would get a lot more than your asking for a 96. You may get what you want part ex, but what your buying will be over the odds, so it's swings and roundabouts i am afraid.

And you think you can claim the money you spent on parts off a buyer. Peeps dont give a **** how much ya spent on it... and it aint a truck its a Range Rover.... it has the landrover badge on it doesnt it not SCANIA :(

get used to it= life

blimey dont get your knickers in a twist!!! iam well aware just because of whats been spent dont make it anymore valuable nor do ineed its px value explaining to me i have been in the trade for many years!!!! but i think 2k is a fair price its a hell of a lot tidier than most with a lot lower miles as for being better spending money on something better prob right but it was kind of sorted something out then something else went so got too the point of no return!!! if i dont get what i want i will keep it till the snow comes then sell it no big deal and i got offered £1200 for it px so we will see!!!

tbh I would just keep it and run it into the ground, not worth selling it for that price especialy when you have spent all that money and its running right, even keeping it for a winter vehicale or workhorse makes sense as it keeps the newer motor good. Wrong time of year for selling I'm afraid, on older 4 x 4's only landcruisers seem to hold thier value all year. Mine is a 97 2.5 DT and would not consider selling it even for your starting price as its worth a lot more to me, she just went through her MOT yesterday with no probs, not bad for a 14 year old motor so its all relative but there is always some who want something for nothing even though a cheaper one would probably cost them more in the long run.
Best of luck
Davie

Thing is p38 are love hate thing, having owned one -okay as a toy but wouldn't trust it as only vehicle. Sold mine and got fair price for it, so people will pay good money if they really want one

thank you davie, i know its the wrong time of year as i have said i will keep it till the snow comes again just means will have to wait before i buy a newer truck oops i mean range rover!
but a £1000 is silly spares or repairs cars fetch that much and i could break for more or got near the money i want anyway.
just in my opinion £1000 for a taxed and tested range rover in good condition with no under lying issues is an insult!

with mine i know the mileage puts people off and to be fair cant blame them it would me too but i honestly beleave if someone comes and views it they will buy it.
you are right fantic i dont trust it as my only car got another two cars just in case!!
i only got it as it came as a part of a deal on trade ins i bought kept it for the winter and it kinda just stuck around!

tbh had a disco before this also used to work on a lot (weld a lot) and the only reason i had that was it was cheap sold on got a good price not a big fan and wouldnt want another one but different horses for different courses!
a note prices for most 4x4 have dropped by now they do take a while after the winter as iam sure you are all aware a lot of people just buy them for the snow its just iam not prepared to give mine away! looks like i will be keeping it then!!!

Prices are dropping I bought a r reg 300 tdi tax and mot but needed head gasket and water pump 142k £300 as people just wanted it gone

Hi Nath

i have a 97 dse great car but just my weekend toy and your sounds like a very nice dse, i would just keep it as a play thing i used to have a l322 vogue but when i started my own business it just sat around all week and at that kind of money five years ago was to much as a toy so sold it and got the P38 and like you did all the little jobs that add up into a nice car.

So keep it a while longer and enjoy what you ahve put into the car then get a L322 and start spending again as the older ones now are getting simular P38 problems.

Will be upgrading in the future to a TDV8 Sport but will keep the P38 for this year and have some cheap fun.

good luck

Tony:)

i know i should have prob kept it but i was sure if anyone could get over the miles and come and see it the would buy it
i had 4 viewings all wanted it but as it was a bank holiday couldnt get the cash out so i said to all first with the money gets it!
iam happy went for the asking price of 2k to a south african couple who paid by cheque and will be picking it up next weekend.
i guess a few will be surprised it fetched the price it did but having been in the trade and bought and sold many cars over the years i was sure i could get what i wanted its all about advertising in the right place for example i would buy a car from ebay as they allways sell cheap but would never sell on there for the same reason!
