Got a James RL creation... It's across four tanks with processes separated out with one of his famous quad condensers - magic! Also got a Nige B venturi on it's way and final polish / dry like you wouldn't believe

I take it, that ur on the vegoildiesel forum??
 
Cooking oil is generally too thick and will make the injection pump struggle and eventually fail.
So needs heating up before hand to make thinner or mix with petrol or suchlike before it gets to the pump.
WVO is obviously crap to start with so needs all the bits of chip and grot filtering out and then remove all the fat from the cooking and washing to make it lovely and clean again.

Remember compression ignition engines can't compress water or fat so it has to be removed.

So basically there are many ways, and as has been mentioned easy and hard ways to do it.

Many get away with finely filtered WVO, but if you worry about gumming or viscosity, then Biodiesel production uses chemicals to change the molecular structure of veg oil (tallow or animal fat too) to meth ester or biodiesel! It's not a process of adding stuff to thin it down, but a chemical change from a tryglyceride (veg oil) to a long chain alkyl ester - meth ester or biodiesel.

So what is biodiesel then? - Bio Fuel Tek is a good resource for info!

been making bio for 4 yrs + now and about to try it in a p38, only had a prob once with citroen van, cheap french piece of ****e!
no need to buy any kind of anyones processor, look up gl processor and take yer time, at least you will know its made properly. never buy one from ebay!!!!
venturi's easy enough too, it's all about reading the instructions properly several times before attempting to build.
mine cost about 300 quid using brand new parts and has saved me many thousands of pounds. you can make them on the cheap using second hand bits, but why would you?
vegetablebiodiesel.co.uk is a good source of info but some of the clique on there have thier heads up thier arse, take what you need info wise but cross them and they will bite!
 
I've started using this in my Disco TD5, can't tell the difference compared to diesel! It smells better out the back though. Did use it in my old pug 206 but as mentioned the french heap let go-core plug at back of engine started leaking so no point fixing it as car was worth scrap value..

As mentioned above it's the quality of the cleaning process of the used veg oil and getting the trygliceried fat out of it that is important to stop the clogging of pumps and fuel lines. Addatives like white spirit can help keep it thin though i supose you could buy similar anti freeze agents like what you get in diesel at the pumps?

Also as it's a clean fuel it cleans your fuel tanks and lines out so you end up with a more efficient system, so win win..

I would like to give it a go making it myself but i don't have the space at the minute. So i just buy if from a company that already makes it and deals with the process lol.

Note it did need a little diesel mixed in with it when the cold snap appeared from no where or that could have been me not letting the plugs warm up long enough....

Which leads me too; Anyone have an in tank fuel warmer/fuel line warmer? Something you could put a timer on for winter so that there are no issues. My mates volvo S60 has one fitted as standard, seen as there from Sweden it kinda makes sense!!
