Those nice people at Land Rover fitted an auxiliary power socket in the rear loadspace of the P38 from 2000 onwards but mine was built in 1995 so I ain't got one - but I want one!

So; does anyone know if the wiring is already in there and all I need to do is fit the socket? I have had a fish about behind the trim in the boot but all I could find was a white multi-plug which looks nothing like the two plugs that seem to connect the power socket as depicted in Rave.

has anyone had experience of this?

Seem to remember (though I'm trying to forget my p38)

that there was a supply for twin socket towbar electrics for caravan fridge etc (left-hand side if I'm not dreaming)

There is a small socket in a cubby behind the CD changer which I used to power the 12S caravan socket. Do a search for 12S caravan socket. You might want to contact Irish Rover for more info.

Caravan electrics on the left, standard towbar electrics on the right. If you use the standard LR towbar electric kits, they plug into sockets on either side.

Pretty sure there won't be any wiring present for a power socket, you'll need to run your own.

This topic has been covered on here before, but buggered if I can find it now.

The "Caravan" socket Kooky refers to on the left is for the reverse lights and also a 12v Ignition "Live" feed. this feed is not heavy enough to supply a Cigarette Lighter type power socket, it's main function is to power a relay coil which in turn switches the power to the fridge and battery charge functions.
You do need to run a suitable 12V+ supply to the power socket, this can be taken from one of the power supply screw terminals on the Becm...remember to put an inline fuse in the new supply. This feed will be permanently live. Use a relay and the Ignition live supply from the spare connector if you only want the new power socket to be live only with the ignition on. The Negative supply to your socket can be taken from the bodywork locally.
