Anyone with a camera help me, please?

Hi all

My wife's 2004 Freelander TD4 has a dead battery, an easy job to replace until I pulled the bonnet release. Cable snapped and most of the wire is no inside the car

I've read on the forum that I can either undo the 2 x 10mm bolts through the gap in the grill or take a hammer and punch to the rivets on the protective plastic box under the catch. Unfortunately I'm struggling to make any sense of what I can see through the gap.

Anyone able to post a picture or two of the catch with the bonnet open - hopefully I can then identify what I need to get at.

Even better if you know where there's a magic button that opens the bonnet

you can get the bonnet open the AA just use a long screw driver

Hippo - the picture is just what I need, but would it be too cheeky to ask same for the bonnet end?

Teddywood - have you seen this done on a 04 plate? From what I've read they riveted a plastic box underneath the catch as a security measure to avoid this. I know I've been able to do that on other cars in a past life.

englishbullterrier - the search is where I started. Was just struggling to visualise what was said and matching it to the limited view I can get!

Not trying to kick a man when he's down, but the battery clamp bolt in my wife's Freelander just turned uselessly in its housing when I needed to change my battery a few weeks ago. Ended up drilling the fecking thing out

If it gets to that stage she might just get some modifications - maybe re-shape the grill and wings with head shaped impressions
