yes stick the vac pipe on that
the earlier bypasses didn't have that so needed the vac pipe blocked as well

hi thanks for the reply, the one i bought the bit that sticks up comes through to the main bypass bit. is this right or should it be blocked completely?

cheers

Is that small connection blank or is it open to the main body as for a boost gauge connection?

edit ....... Just missed your posting. It's obviously for a boost connection so your going to have to blank that and the end of the vac pipe. Not connect them together.

i saw another one on e*ay with two bits sticking up off it maybe thats the one i should have bought. Didnt think i would have to block the pipe and the bypass?

has anyone else got any advice on this before i send it back? the bloke i got it off on e*ay says to connect the vac pipe to that bit sticking up and dont block it? im confused

cheers

I made the same mistake as you. I am in the process of returning the one I purchased and buying the one recommended by Rover Ron. That one has a much thicker flange and welding looks much better IMHO.

the other version by "evotomturbo" has two take off, one is blocked off (for the hose to go on) and the other take off is capped off.

I guarantee you don't connect the vac pipe to that stub if it is open to the main inlet tract no matter what the guy thinks.

If you did that you would have boost pressure fed into the vacuum system when the turbo spools up.

If you want to keep it just cut a short bit of vac pipe, push it on and either double it over and tie-wrap it or plug it with a screw or something just like you have to do with the loose vac pipe.

thanks for the replies, i sent mine back today and am buying the one off evotomturbo once i get my money back.

the guy was still saying i put it on the open one tho.......no point making them and selling them with crap instructions and emailing me with wrong advice. thank god for landyzone :D

thanks again

sorry for the duff advice, i believed the small fitting was blanked off and only there to keep the vac pipe tidy

seems kinda weird to blank off the EGR valve but still attach the vaccum

yeah i know....thats what i didnt get. i mean i havent had an interest in cars but my freelander i got in oct has got me interested but i havent got a clue about engines etc. im on a steep learning curve. :D
