are you sure it was working before? did you use the mode switch and it worked? cos it can stay on level long time without compresor activity then as it stood so much unused the bags deflated or a leak occured and you just realised that the compressor is not working.

the compressor is fed through fusible link FL9 in engine bay

yep defo working until taken off road even when i jumped it , it would always level itself as it should , i will check fuse as pretty sure the pump isnt working , could it also be that now it is tilting so much , tow bar on floor , that the sensors are not working ? these have both been renewed along with air bags last year ? could they be telling the car to do something it shouldnt

I don't know the disco, but my approach if it's not the fuse would be do disconnect the compressor and try powering it direct, if it runs see if it produces any pressure.
Other than that I'd use diagnostics.

jack it up from the towbar untill half of normal level and try then cos it's possible that the sensors dont work from that extremely low position, also make sure that all the doors/taildoor are well closed cos the compressor will not work otherwise, ofr if you get a misslock warning when you lock it that could be a reason too

Thanks for that , i do recall doing that when i fitted new bags , on the other hand i dont think i have had doors closed !! will shut everything in morning inc bonnet jack the mother up and try again if no good will get a box of matches out ,, :) cheers again guys !!

As I've just been through this scenario here's my twopenceworth, and thanks to sierrafery I had little trouble, after applying a lot of patience...

See the technical section for a picture of the compressor and part location.

As has been mentioned, keep the doors and tailgate shut - the bonnet makes no difference.

Listen to the compressor when you start up the Disco and guage whether there is evidence/noise to confirm it is at least making a noise.

If not, Check the fuse and relay - if the fuse has blown it's important to find out why.

It's a simple 15 min job to take out the compressor box and check if the pump is working: undo the middle connection of the three valves at the 3-valve block and start up the Disco, if there is pressure from the pipe connection to here then it eliminates the compressor.

If the compressor is working then as mentioned jack up the Disco a little to help 'trick' the height level sensors into working.

If no change check the left and right output valves at the 3- valve block: undo both left and right connections at the block leaving the middle connected. Start up disco and check whether there is pressure from each valve. If not, try raising/ lowering the Disco to bring the height sensors into play. (The sensors complete the circuit to send power to each left and right valves - occasionally only one oitput valve will seem to work if the suspension is unequal)

Come back and tell us where you're at?

It really is an easy system to diagnose the basics - don't despair, and 'bon courage'!

Hav you closed the doors and pressed the lift button whilst engine running. Similar thing hap penned to mine but I always had the door open as I was watching the car not raise.

yep tried that to and bingo nothing ,, with window open i have started the car and run around nearside and pump is working , just dosen't want to pump enough air to the back its not having it at all , have checked fuses , relays , short of changing sensors , i am really baffled ,, maybe the pump just not go enough oomph to push her up ,, tried old airbag also off the car and it pumped it up rock hard , but only the once ,, so maybe it is pointing to the pump ???

have just got your message , will try this in morning i have disconnected the valves ?/ but did not re start to see if any pressure was coming through this is very useful tip will def try ,, its all most strange as test run was fine when put back on the vroad then after couple of miles back nearside just collapsed , now have fitted new bag but obviously not the problem , i have loads patience so will keep trying , and defo remove valves in am and re start . cheers matey !!!!:)
