ABS, TC, Downhill Warning Lights

Morning all,

This has happened twice now in the 2 weeks I've owned my Disco. Driving along normally, the ABS, TC and downhill warning lights come on on the dash. There is no change in how it drives but still slightly concerning.

The dreaded "Three Amigos". Could be any number of things, from a bad earth at the ABS pump block to a knackered hub. Try to find someone with a Nanocom or Hawkeye locally (or failing that, a Testbook at a dealer) to determine what the actual fault is. If it's intermittent, chances are it's the earthing problem (caused by a bad connection between the Shuttle Valve and the block), which is an easy repair.

Thanks for the reply, I just found a thread on 'The Three Amigos' and also a link suggesting I buy a Nanocom.

The fault is intermittent, stopping and starting again seems to clear the problem. I did read that there is an earth somewhere in the glove box which can be the cause so I'll have to find some schematics of the vehicle and see what is what.

ABS MOD Feedback - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.

I had this a couple of weeks ago, turned it off and then on again and they went off.
Took it to my local garage anyway just to be on the safe side, it brought up a fault code but it wasnt a valid code according to Land Rover, just a random string of numbers/letters. Cleared all in diags and was advised to drive to the garage next time they come on and they'll plug it in there and then.
Touch wood they havent come back.

Thanks for the replies. Mine has done it twice now in 2 weeks, no real pattern for them to come on. Just stopping and starting seems to clear it but I don't want to have to keep doing that each time!

You could do with a diagnostic to point you in the right direction!
£80 at Landrover, probably £30/40 to a bloke down the pub!
If you happen to drive past Corby, my plug might slip in your socket if the Mrs ain't looking! !

What an offer! Sadly I won't be anywhere near Corby in the near future but thanks all the same.

I'm going to get myself a Nanocom I think, we have 2 Discos in the family so no doubt it will come in useful. I'll also try the mod and see if that cures the problem.

2 Discovery's definitely warrants having your own gadget. It will surely pay for itself!

I wouldn't do the mod untill you have had it plugged in to check what codes are present,why fix what isn't broken,I've had those amigo's twice now on mine and both times it was a hub that was faulty

Technically I got an engine and gearbox warranty from the garage I bought my Disco from. I am wondering if this turns out to be an expensive repair that the garage should help cover the costs?! It may be worth a phone call.
