Just wanted to see who uses the higher octane fuels in the V8 (02-04). I have been running on 95 but now and again put half a tank of Ultimate or VPower in. Would appear to be more economical and a little more responsive. Any one else have any opinions on this?

From the Handbook....

Ar thank you. So no need to put the expensive stuff in. No harm every now and again though? I hear it has added detergents to clean engine parts I.e injectors etc?

RON rating or Octane rating is the measure of how easy it is for the fuel to compression ignite or be prematurely ignited by glowing embers in the combustion chamber. The higher it is, the less likely it is to do so. Pre-ignition kills engines. With the new self cleaning fuels and regular servicing of plugs etc, you should not need to use anything higher than 95 RON.
